Family Rhythms

Family rhythms are important to the Intentional Family Process. Family rhythms help us decide the way we are going to do life together as a family. Thoughtfully choosing our family rhythms — our roles, routines, rules, rituals, and recreational activities — helps ensure that everything we do is connecting back to our family values and goals.

Our Favorites:

  • Intentional Family: Simple Rituals to Strengthen Family Ties by William J. Doherty

This was the first book on our Intentional Family Library shelf. In the book, you will find ideas for how to intentionally create family rituals throughout the year. As you explore this book, we encourage Intentional Families to create family rituals that connect back to their core family values and goals.

  • The Intentional Family by Jo Carr & Imogene Sorley

This is one of the original books written in the 1970s on the concept of an intentional family.

  • Boundaries by Henry Cloud & John Townsend

This is a classic book on how to set appropriate boundaries with the people around us. In Intentional Family life, boundaries are vital because they help us maintain our values and family plan without becoming overloaded or off-course.
