Mission & Values

MISSION STATEMENT:

The Intentional Family Project creates compelling scholarship and family life education resources to empower families to be good stewards of their time, money, and relationships.

VISION STATEMENT:

The Intentional Family Project seeks to be a nationally-recognized clearinghouse and research center in Child & Family Studies at Baylor University addressing the needs of today’s Christian families.

GOALS:

  • To support a new generation of Christian families in the intentional design of their family cultures so that they may be set apart and relevant in a pluralistic society.
  • To inform practitioners, leaders, and students who are committed to empowering families to be good stewards of their time, money, and relationships.

BELIEFS & VALUES on FAMILY:

As noted throughout the website, we believe that all families can have different values, and we respect those differences as God has given each of us free will to choose.  We explicitly provide the overarching beliefs that guide our writings to let the reader know our own biases and positions on topics. These values are the undertone of much of this website.

  • We believe that one of the highest aspirations of family life is to help one another discover the whole and integrated lives we were created for.
  • We believe that family life should encourage one another to attain a virtuous life, which prepares us for the life to come.
  • We believe that family life should reflect the Creator to the created.
